Letting Go

So last month our 1990 Mazda went on to a new family.

A bittersweet moment as we watched her pull away.

We first got Mary (yes we named our vehicle and it is a she) in January of 2013.

She was in a wreck within a month of her purchase.  And for most people that is where the story would end.  Who would keep a car that the insurance company said would cost more than it was worth to repair?

Us!  That's who.

Along the way we learned a lot about car maintenance and painting cars.  We swapped the engine.  Once out of need and another time for more power.  She started out white and then was gray.  Then we painted her black and white.  Now she's tan and black.

We discovered the joys of driving with the top down in all the seasons.  We auto crossed and met other Miata fans.  My favorite Mary moment was driving through the Norfolk Botanical Gardens for their holiday light display with the top down.  You know you wish you could have been there.

Darby loves the convertible.  What dog wouldn't?  Top down and you feel like you're flying!

We even did a scenic cross country drive in Mary.  That was interesting.  No cruise control, power steering, A/C or radio.  There was only the driver side air bag and it's a manual transmission.

Whew!

However, we are getting older and Mary just isn't a daily driver.  A sad realization for us, but a true one.

Fortunately we have a friend on the west coast who will use her for auto crossing.  Now she's off for more adventures.

 Farewell Mary!  We'll miss you.

Acquisition #2

I should have posted this over a week ago to be up to date, but I'm lazy. I've had the picture, but never downloaded it from the camera. I took it the day we got the things. I'm lazy I know. Technically the hubby ordered this before we got the Wii, but it arrived after the Wii so I'm labeling it as the second acquisition since we arrived in Rhode Island.

I really like the leather coffee and end tables. It's going to go really well with our plans for the living room. I'm not exactly sure where hubby ordered it from, but it took forever to get here. Honestly. He ordered it when we first arrived and it got here at the end of April. So okay it wasn't forever, but it felt that way. Anyway, the coffee table does open just like a trunk. So that's very cool for storage and the like. The end tables don't open like a trunk, they have drawers. Two each. That's cool too. And all of them have handles on the side for easy lifting and it adds to the look.

Wii

Yeah I did spell that right. My sweet baboo has been asking for this game console from Nintendo for a while. I finally agreed with him that we should get it. Tiny problem. It's in high demand and a bit hard to find. But I told him I'd find it. So I started the search earlier this week. I could have gotten it from Amazon.com, but I would have had to pay more and wait for it to be delivered. I'm into instant gratification these days. I don't want to wait for it to get here.

What the hubby doesn't know is this. I have a Wii game console sitting across from me right now. Just the basic model. I'll leave getting the extras up to him since I know we can get them nearby. Our Wal-Mart does have those. I'll leave the set up for him as well. He has to have some fun. I mean I did go on the hunt. Ah the thrill of the hunt. I normally don't like shopping unless I'm looking for something in particular. Finally found one in Fall Rivers, MA. Just a short drive from where we are. They only had two so I jumped in the car and got there as fast as I could.

See I was smart, I called first. Ha. Ha. No aimless driving for me.

Now I can't wait to see his expression when he gets home!

Finally...

We have a table where more than four people can sit down to eat. I feel like an adult now. It was a pain to get here though. Had to order it from Pier One and the company they used for delivery sucked. I won't be doing that again! But I am pleased with the table. The hubby picked it out and I think it looks good.
