Flying The Friendly Skies

Vino Volo
So this past week I've flown back to my parents house for a visit. I'll explain more about that in another post though.  I had one lay over in BWI.  I mean who gets direct flights anymore?  I probably could have, but I'm sure it would have cost me an arm and a leg.  But I digress.
Flight of Reds

While at the airport I came across this wine bar.  It's called Vino Volo.  The name is derived from Italian and means wine flight.  I'd never been, so I stopped in to have a glass.  I'm a nervous flier and thought the wine would calm me.  It did!

My flight was all reds, in case you hadn't noticed.  I don't remember their specific order or much about them since I didn't get a cheat sheet to take with me, but I believe I had a garnacha, a carmenere and a Malbec.  It was the Malbec that caught my eye.  They also had food, but I really didn't have the time because I had a flight to catch.

Cal Ripken Jr.
As we were lining up to board the plane I saw Cal Ripken Jr. My phone was already turned off and by the time it powered back on he'd already boarded. Luckily the young man sitting next to me got a photo and forwarded his to me. So a big thank you out to that young man! The hubby didn't believe me and said he needed photographic evidence.

My Cousin Justin (The Star)

That's right, he is! My cousin, Justin, is an aspiring actor. And he is actually in a movie that is about to come out. July 1st! He's in Public Enemies. It may be a bit part, but hey you actually see his face. And you have to start somewhere. Watch out Hollywood! It's based on the story of John Dillinger.

Pause it at 41 seconds into the preview. The young man in the brown hat, behind the larger man, is Justin. It's a brief appearance and I'm hoping it's a bit longer in the movie. So please go see this movie. And if you hear someone shout out 'That's my cousin!'. I apologize in advance.

RIP

For anyone who doesn't know, George Carlin passed away on Sunday of heart failure, he was 71. If you don't know who he was then I really have no clue what rock you were hiding under. He did a lot of guest appearances on TV shows and did have a very short lived show of his own. The George Carlin Show, which ran for something like 12 episodes in 1994-95. What I remember him for most, sadly, is Rufus in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and the sad movies that followed that travesty. More recently he was the voice of Fillmore in Cars and The Wizard in Happily N'Ever After.

Oh yeah and obviously he was a stand up comedian! Here's a clip of one of his routines. Warning! If you are in any way offended by crude language then don't listen to this. He was one foul mouthed little man!

Farewell Harvey Korman

If you don't recognize the man in the picture then you must have been living under a rock. Harvey Korman passed away on Thursday. If you know nothing of him, click on his name and go rent something from the IMDB list. Personally I like The Carol Burnett Show and Blazing Saddles. Some things would be hard to view since he did voices for cartoons. He was so funny. Especially once he got going with Tim Conway. He will be missed.
