You sure couldn't tell by the amount of posting I haven't done.  Bad me!

It's not like I haven't done stuff.  I have.  I swear!

I've just been really lazy.  I shall try to rectify that.

Hurry Up And Wait!

Everyone knows this term right?

You show up to the doctor or dentist 15 minutes early, like they tell you to (at least the military clinics do), and you sit in the waiting room, flipping through old magazines or reading a book, and wait 30 minutes or more to be seen.

This goes on just about everywhere.  The DMV.  Any government office.  The vet.  Your hairdresser.  Even the dealership where you take your vehicle for all of its needs.  Heck even cable makes you wait.

Normally this doesn't bother me.  I take a book with me.

However, when you're a company coming to my home to put out an estimate you should be prompt.  Or even call if you're delayed.  Don't make me sit around waiting on you!  It's rude!

After waiting 2 hours I had to leave a message on the company phone saying to call me to reschedule.

UGH!!

In this economy you need to keep in touch with your clients.

Face Lift

No I'm not talking about surgery on me. You might have noticed that I've changed the look of my blog. If not... Well I'd say you might wanna get your eyes checked out. I was tired of the boring look of it and had noticed a number of blogs looking really cute. So yeah, I had envy. So I started my search, which really didn't take all that long. I got all of this from The Cutest Blog On The Block. There were tons of choices and it was pretty easy to do. And who knows? Now that I've got this slightly figured out I may do even more. Insert evil laughter here.

Free Stuff And the Problems They Incur

My buddy John blogged his rant about Craigslist so now I guess it's my turn.

So we're moving soon and decided to get rid of a few things so they'd stop following us around. It's old stuff so I figured why not give it away. Logical right? Let me state this first and foremost. I have nothing against Cragslist personally, just the morons who use it.

It's free people! Don't expect like new condition and ask me to call your cell or ask for my phone number. I do not give out my number to anyone I don't know. Some of the questions I got were so stupid I just told the person that I'd already given it away. Others were asking if I had other things to go with it. If I did don't you think I would have listed them? And the dickering over when to come get it. Ugh!

I had people wanting to come over the weekend to get it. Nope I stated that this had to be gone by Friday afternoon or it was going to the Good Will. I stated first come first served. Another statement was I don't want to drive all the way out there if you're gonna give this to another person. Huh? If I promise the listed item to you then I will not give it to anyone else. What's wrong with people?

I only wish they had the Freecycle site here, because it's much easier to use and you don't have to deal with that stupidity.

I'm No Movie Critic, But...

We just got back from seeing Wall-E. We went to a late show in order to avoid having to deal with lots of kids. Nothing I hate more than paying full price for a movie and then having to listen to some one's kids talk or whine through a movie.



Jim and I loved this movie. It's a wonderful little love story. And to anyone out there who doesn't like it, well you have no soul! It was adorable and had me chuckling.

Also happy birthday to JD! Hope you had a great day buddy!

Meandering Through The Blogs

So on occasion I just hit the Next Blog button to see what's out there. There's a lot out there and it never takes you down the same path twice. Everyone likes to get their thoughts out there. I can only read English, so there are lots of blogs that I skip due to the language barrier.

Here's just a few that I've come across today that made me pause to read them. And of course these are all people that I don't know. And I don't want to even think about how many blogs I went through.

Does Anyone Else Ever Think About This? made me stop due to the Webkinz post. And I thought I had an issue. =)

Eat, Sleep, Kids. There's just something about parents blogging about their kids that makes me giggle. Not in a mean way, mind you. It just warms my heart that they want to brag on their kids accomplishments or bemoan what has happened that day.

Stranded. The pictures were what originally caught my eye. Some of the musings are interesting. While others might just seem out there.

Angie's Suds 'N' Such. Since my buddy makes soaps and such this one did catch my eye. Hey Greta have you ever tried cucumbers? And yes a lot of these people use the blogs as stores. I tend to zip past them unless they catch my eye. This one did.

Marci's Blog. Some people just seem to have exciting lives. I'm such a lump!

My Life In Pictures. The title says it all. The photos are lovely. As someone who enjoys taking photos herself I think this is a great blog. Makes me want to take my camera back up and start snapping photos.

Simply Food and Me. I don't know what it is about this site. The pictures of the food make my mouth water. Although you can tell that English is not the first language, but that's okay. He does quite well. Better than I would ever do.

Tizit. It's a Siamese perspective with a little help from the human of the house. How could you not love that? And everyone knows my soft spot for that particular cat.

Five Days Old

On Friday I got my haircut, but didn't get a picture of the haircut until today. Yeah I know I'm lazy. Most people probably won't even notice that I got it cut. I don't do anything drastic. That's just not my style. It was down to the middle of my back and now it's just below my shoulders. And I got layers.

The hubby helped me pick out a style. I think I shocked him by asking him to help me choose a style. Normally I have something in mind when I decide I want to get my hair cut. I always start hating my hair as summer gets closer and decided it had to be cut before I went to New York on Sunday. I'm so wishy washy when it comes to getting my hair cut. I'm still getting used to it, but I like it. Now I need to get some highlights. I'm starting to look like a brunette. Not sure how I feel about that.

Possession

Yours. Mine. His. Hers. Ours. You now know what I've talking about with possession. What you thought I meant the demonic kind? That's just creepy! But I digress.We're fortunate enough to own two vehicles. I can't imagine trying to get by with one vehicle. It would drive me bonkers! I know short drive. And I know there are people out there who do it, but I'm not one of them. I like being able to jump in the car and go whenever I want.

The car is "mine" and the truck is "his". Really their "ours". The truck was bought with the thought that it could tow a boat. And it was what the hubby wanted. Yes we do own a small boat so we can tow it. And hey I got the car that I wanted so I'm not grousing here. Sorry that was a side road again. I seem to be going down a lot of them on this post. Hey I'm without a map! Oh that was a bad one. My apologies. Back on track I promise!

Since moving to Rhode Island things have changed a bit. The hubby has been driving the car more than the truck. It's all due to the rising gas prices. The car is cheaper to fill up than the truck and doesn't chug-a-lug the fuel like the truck. I don't blame him, but I miss the smallness of the car. The truck feels huge when you drive it. He doesn't always take the car, so that's okay. The car is much better suited for the small streets of Newport than the truck, so it gets a bit more use.

Another Blog

I found yet another blog site today. I know, I've got way too much time on my hands. Check out the blogs section and you'll see the one called One Marine's View. Pretty interesting to read things from a Marine's POV. I like to click on people that comment on some of my favorite sites and see if they themselves have a blog. That's how I found this one. You never know what you'll find.

Showing My Age

The other night the hubby and I went to the O Club for wing night with some friends. That's the Officer's Club for those of you who don't speak Navy. We were all there to meet Julie's hubby, Chad and daughter Heidi. Who were up for the weekend from the Norfolk, VA area. At least that's the excuse we were using for going out.

For once I was the DD (designated driver) instead of the hubby. Normally he's the one who drives. It was finally my turn. Bout time I guess you would say. So I ordered a Roy Rogers, which is a Coke with Cherry Grenadine in it. Only they no longer call it a Roy Rogers because kids no longer know who he is. Is that not sad? Have they never watched Die Hard? Bruce Willis mentions him! They now call it a Batman. Got to catch up with the times. They still call a Shirley Temple by the same name. Which is a Sprite or Ginger Ale and Cherry Grenadine. Isn't she older than Roy Rogers? An Arnold Palmer is lemonade and iced tea.

So I guess I'm finally feeling my age. Or actually I guess I'm feeling old.

Just Added

I've just added another blog to my things I read site. The hubby showed this to me. It's very interesting and if you have the time I truly recommend that you check it out. If you've ever wondered what Navy life is like then this is the site for you. It's a blog done by the crew of the USS Russell. It's being done so you get more of an insider's perspective of Navy life. I've found it very interesting. And I'm sure it's been a great comfort to their families as they have just started a deployment. I know I'll be checking it out every day. Hope the few people who read this will check it out as well.

Packers

No not the Green bay variety! Yesterday we had 2 packers come to our home and pack up all of our worldly possessions. Yep it's time for a military move. They were amazing. There were only 2 of them and we had 2 bedrooms plus a garage. They got here at 10:30 and left at 6 with an hour lunch. They did it all in 6 and 1/2 hours. Pretty amazing. They finished the pack out in one day with only the two of them. They were an upbeat pair too. Joking and talking! Kept me and the hubby in stitches. And very professional. Out of all the moves we've done this has been the best groups and smallest group of packers we've ever had.

The movers will be here tomorrow to take all of our boxes. The cat is having a blast wandering through all the boxes. The dog is a bit confused. Wait until it's all gone.

So Yahoo just did the world's cheesiest love songs and I had to blog about this. It's just too close to Valentine's Day not to. I know there's more than are listed here, but I'm not devoting my life to finding them. I do have a life you know? Well at least a semblence of one. Thoughts

I don't really keep up on the news that much. The hubby keeps me informed. I know shame on me, let's move on. He's the one who told me about The Filipino Monkey. I nearly wet myself laughing at the story of the pervert. He'd been saying from the get go that's who he thought did it. Which is not funny. I have to agree with him. He's a pretty smart cookie. That could just be me being biased, anyway on with my thread.

I know there will be the conspiracy theory nuts out there saying that this was all staged. It's already happening. Thankfully some people can see through that.

Election Day

I must say living in a small town is quite nice. Going to the polls I was only bugged twice instead of nearly manhandled like I have been in the past. The polling place that I go to is a school, which makes it easy to get to. The funny thing is, they closed down the school for the day. Probably a good idea.

The funny thing is that for this election one of the hubby's former CO's is running for House of Delegates. I had been hoping he would be running in my area so that I could vote against him. I have a problem with people who use their military title after they leave the military. It was on all of his signs. And of course he had them up near a military installation. Ugh! Plus there's the fact that I don't agree with all of his 'policy ideas'. Good thing he was getting stomped by his opponent when I went to bed last night.

Okay my rant is done.

Weddings and All The Hoopla That It Entails

So last night I helped a friend cater a wedding. Serving food and such. Lucky I got some remittance for my services as it was hot, humid and generally unpleasant in the black jeans that I was required to wear. Let's just say I was so happy to get in my little air conditioned car to drive home at ten that night. Oh yeah they had a belly dancer at the wedding too. Turns out she was the sister of the bride. The strange things people will have at their wedding receptions. On to my story.

As I was helping carry bottled waters out to where the service was to be held a thought occured to me. We've gotten too bogged down with the frou frous of weddings. It was nearly one hundred degrees at six in the evening and this bride had her groom in a tux and everyone else in formal wear. How awful! They all looked very nice, but completely overheated. I joked with the bartender that if it were me I would go with sundresses and khaki shorts and hawaiian shirts.

I brought this whole line of thinking up to my adoring hubby at breakfast the next morning. At first he stated that we had already exchanged vows why would we need to do it again. But I'm guessing the glare I sent his way this time made him rethink his statement. I mentioned it would be more of a party this time around. How cool would it be to exchange vows in the vineyards of our favorite winery with all of our friends around us. But instead of being all stuffy and formal we go casual. He could wear khaki shorts and a hawiian shirt. I'd wear a sundress and all of our guests could dress likewise. We did get married in the middle of August, so this would be perfect. This made him smile. Afterwards we could just have a party with wine, beer, good food and friends and family. What could be better? Of course my smarty pants hubby thought of some things to make the wedding 'better'. The pirate in him came out. We'll see if this all comes to fruition at our twentieth.

But really is there truly a need to go into debt to celebrate the union of two people? Don't get me wrong. My friend the caterer made some cash as did I. And of course the winery this young woman had her wedding at made some money. But wow all the hassle. I'm so glad that my wedding was simple.

Here I Am

Just like every other self-involved person in the world, I've decided that I want a blog. Hopefully I'll be entertaining. Oh who am I kidding? This is purely to entertain me. That's what the internet is for right? So entertain me internet!
