Merry Christmas
It's just not Christmas without hearing this song at least once. So this one goes out to my buddy Greta and her boy Colten. Since I know they'll appreciate my warped sense of what is Christmassy.

A Tribute
A quick note, you may want a tissue.
This is Queensryche singing Home Again. A group I haven't thought of in years.

Change of Command
So Friday was the Change of Command on the ship. Sadly I was unable to attend due to an appointment that I could not get out of. Dolia Gonzalez is a really neat woman. If you watch the video you get to see a snippet of her. And at 1:40 you might recognize the sailor that the camera pans over. Dolia does consider the sailors her family and that extends to their spouses and children. I was very fortunate to meet her the night before.

I'm No Movie Critic, But...
We just got back from seeing Wall-E. We went to a late show in order to avoid having to deal with lots of kids. Nothing I hate more than paying full price for a movie and then having to listen to some one's kids talk or whine through a movie.
Jim and I loved this movie. It's a wonderful little love story. And to anyone out there who doesn't like it, well you have no soul! It was adorable and had me chuckling.
Also happy birthday to JD! Hope you had a great day buddy!

80's Icons
Oh how you've fallen.
So the newest Go Phone commercial by AT & T has had me thinking. Gee that really looks like Meatloaf. Could it be? Nah. So I mentioned it to the hubby. He thought I was right and then I just had to Google it. Not only is that Meatloaf playing the father, but Tiffany is playing the mother. I didn't notice her because her part is so tiny in the commercial that we see on TV. I found this one. Guess it was the original one that they wanted to do.
Oh how the 'mighty' have fallen. Get out the crackers and prepare for cheese!

Sprucing Up
I've redone the blog's layout. Every once in a while I like to shake things up. What can I say? I'm just nutty like that. And just for your patience I've included this. It's 'Life is Beautiful' by Sixx A.M. I got a video done by someone else. I just didn't care for the band's music video. And I really like the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It's an awesome show! I can't wait for it to come back on. Hope you enjoy.

Top Ten Reasons To Watch Battlestar Galactica
Just too funny! And if you don't care for any of these reasons than I have to doubt your enthusiasm for Battlestar Galactica.

Cheesy Love Songs
So Yahoo just did the world's cheesiest love songs and I had to blog about this. It's just too close to Valentine's Day not to. I know there's more than are listed here, but I'm not devoting my life to finding them. I do have a life you know? Well at least a semblence of one. As long as there's romance there will be cheesy love songs out there. Some are worse than others. So here's Yahoo's list.

Suddenly-Billy Ocean
Wind Beneath My Wings-Bette Midler

Best Commercial Ever!
So the hubby and I sat and watched Super Bowl's Greatest 2008 Commercials. I normally watch the Super Bowl for the commercial. Okay so I'm not a football fanatic. I don't complain when the hubby wants to watch it though.
The greatest commercial was voted Coke's Mean Joe Green's commercial from the 80's. I have to agree with them. It's a classic! How can you not get a warm fuzzy seeing that commercial? It's been number one something like seven times. Budweiser came in second and third. Not my favorites, but good ones.
Which led the hubby and I to another discussion on how much we enjoyed Budweiser's commercials. Well except for the Whaz Up fad. I always look forward to their commercials. I know many would say I'm biased because we're from the area, but their advertisers are brilliant.
Now the commercial below is the best ever! It was only aired once because they didn't want to get any financial gain off of it. It's an emotional one, so you have been warned.
I get chocked up when they bow.

A Blast From The Past
Holy cow! I remember watching this back when I was in high school. It was a hoot to watch back then. Titan was an original Gladiator. Cool to see he's in good shape and can still do this.
So I've watched it the past two nights with the hubby. They do a lot more about the contenders history, which I could care less about. But it's still pretty good. It's the only show that I've ever watched that the hubby got loud over. I know it'll become a staple in our household.

A Birthday Wish A Bit Late
Okay if I had thought of this sooner I'd have posted it for my own birthday, but I only recently found it. So here you go Phil. And just be thankful that it's not a Budweiser commercial with you favorite song. Happy Birthday and a hundred more.
Sorry this is late. Hope it was a good one.

Call Me Sentimental
But what is Christmas without checking in with NORAD to see where jolly old Saint Nick is. Of course I had to get his take off. Things are so much more high tech than when I was growing up.
I do hope all the small children in my life are safely in bed as Santa gets to the US. Merry Christmas all! I hope you were good this year and left out something nice for Santa so he'll leave you lots of goodies.

A Belated Birthday Thought
Yesterday was my birthday. We won't mention how old I am. My buddy Greta and I have a thing that we joke about for birthdays. It's not black crows, it's pink flamingos. They're much more fun. And normally we do something obnoxious to each other involving this poor bird. So I found this video to honor our tradition.
Good Lord they are loud! Greta aren't you glad I never actually got you one of these. Ha. Ha. Ha.

It Can't Be Christmas Until You See
Growing up the season always started with a Budweiser commercial for the holidays. Of course they always had the Clydesdales coming out of Grants Farm's front gates. Not sure if they do it any more or not since I'm not in the St. Louis area, but it's a great nostalgic thing for me. This is just one of the many that I'm sure are out there.
